A book club for gay men who have always wanted to read Proust's multi-volume novel but were afraid to try on their own. This group is for you! We will meet bi-weekly on Wednesday evenings for 90-minute discussions and to share our insights into this complex work. We will read Proust in translation (rather than in French). Our goal is to make our way gradually through the novel. Experienced readers of Proust also welcome!
This is a group for all those who miss the pleasure of digging into a new book with the knowledge that on the other side of the cover they will have the opportunity for engaging conversation! Prepare yourself for some mid-brow chatter, snacks, and reading. We're aiming for one book a month, democratic voting selection, and wide array of subject matters probably heavily leaning towards fiction. Did I mention the snacks?
The Cambridge Book Club is based in Cambridge MA and is unique in alternating fiction and non-fiction reads. Reading selections are based on member suggestions and final member vote. We've been going strong for 2 years and we look forward to reading together and discussing the books we read! All readers, all ages are welcome!

No club, if it wants to survive, can open itself to all comers. Clubs depend on exclusivity; if the conditions of membership aren’t enforced or argued away by the more insincere members, it dies or becomes something only faintly resembling what it set out to be. Let me begin, then, by telling you exactly what I want this club to be. Once a month, Bostonians who enjoy reading aloud great literature will gather at one of city’s premier watering holes to do just that. (Dive bars won’t provide the q …

It's time to rekindle the group for the new year, and there are a few changes. I welcome your thoughts on them. 0. First, let me address some questions people have asked. This is a writing group, not a critiquing group. You don't need to distribute work ahead of time or do any homework. You can write anything you want; there is no preferred genre or style. You can come as frequently or infrequently as you wish. You can RSVP or not, show or not. We do not charge, we do not judge. 1. …

I'm looking for a group of Ladies who enjoy popular & sci-fi type books! I've got a list of books I like on my goodreads account (http://www.goodreads.com/user/show
/9731055-josie) for those of you that may be interested in joining. We will meet once every 3 months or so to discuss a book and probably have social gatherings in-between once the ball gets rolling.
Comics are brilliant. They are also an overlooked and under-appreciated part of the literary establishment, so we're looking to redress the balance a little. This group will work pretty much like a traditional book club - we pick a new graphic novel or collection every month, read it and meet up for a discussion over coffee or a beer. We're going to try to find the literary corners of the graphic storytelling medium - I'm interested in how art style informs character perception; how panel layout …
Hi there! I want to start a book club that focuses on non-fiction reads -- mostly what I tend to read are books about health and wellness, travel, animals, biographies, business, and in general, real things. I feel like I am alone out there, because every other book club I see is totally based on reading novels and other works of fiction. Unfortunately, it is rare for me to really enjoy a novel! I would love to see if other people in the area are interested in reading about the "real" stuff and …

I am a reader of Tarot and other divination forms for many years and there aren't any local groups for learning and practicing Tarot here, so I made one! This is a group to learn and discuss Tarot cards, runes, geomancy, and any or all forms of divination. Let's learn from each other!
In an effort to create a new kind of book club, this group is dedicated to combining a few wonderful and creative elements: literature, libations, and community. It is my hope that this group can explore a variety of literary works from best sellers to classics as dictated by the group. If you are a 20-30 something, interested in meeting up to discuss books, have good conversation, and perhaps some excellent wine or beer this is the group for you!
Greetings! This group is for anyone interested in books that focus on black people, culture, history, politics, and empowerment in America and abroad. There are no blinders here. Let's pull the cover back, read, and come together to discuss the truth - whatever that may be.

If you read tarot or have an interest in learning how to read tarot, we have various meet-ups around Salem and the Boston area for like-minded people to meet, share tips in a non-judgmental welcoming setting, and have a good time! We use the tarot as a powerful divination tool and believe the tarot does not predict the future or tell you what choices you should make. Our philosophy is based on developing your own psychic & intuitive abilities and teaching you how to find the answers you seek us …
"No matter how busy you may think you are, you must find time for reading, or surrender yourself to self-chosen ignorance." — Confucius I'm sure I'm not the only one out there who gave many a classic book a pass while growing up. Yet it turns out our teachers were right and there is a literary currency that these works provide. This book club is your chance to sit down and finally read Anna Karenina, Don Quixote, Pride and Prejudice, but also the somewhat forgotten classics and even modern works …

Am I the only person in Boston who will admit to reading trashy romance novels and LOVING them? I've formed this group to find others who share my love and want to talk about the finer points of romance novels (because there are many!) in a fun, fantastically female environment. We'll pick a new novel to read every month, which could be anything from the latest Lisa Kleypas or Christine Warren to oldies but goodies like Persuasion or Rebecca. Join me for some great, though occasionally ribald co …

Some have expressed interest in a HN meetup in the Boston area. Let's set up a meetup or two and see how it goes. Just join the group if you are interested, please post any ideas about events. I'm not planning to organize this long term, just hoping to catalyze something. Please get in touch if you'd be interested in organizing. Update: we're having a casual first meetup at Meadhall in Kendall Square on February 6th at 6PM. No speakers or anything, but come with ideas for more formal events.
